"IT'S NOT FOR EVERYONE. JUST THOSE WHO'D LIKE TO BECOME LEADERS."
Beta Club is a national organization based on the four pillars of service, achievement, leadership, and character. The motto of the national organization is “Let Us Lead by Serving Others.” Magazine has had a senior high club since 1982, and a junior high club was added four years ago
Magazine Beta Clubs are also involved in several service projects. For the past few years, they have formed a Relay for LIfe team and raised money for the American Cancer Society. They have also raised money to buy toys for Arkansas Children’s Hospital Northwest. Besides raising money for various groups, the clubs have also looked for opportunities to provide volunteer service to their school and community including school and community clean-up, aid stations for the Arkansas Marathon, and toy drives for Toys for Tots,
Membership in Beta is by invitation, based on grades and teacher recommendations. The junior high club is for students in grades 7 and 8, and the senior high club is for grades 9-10. Donna Riddle was a charter member of the senior high club when it was formed in 1982, and she has been the main sponsor since returning to teach at her alma mater in the fall of 1988. Her co-sponsors for the senior high club are Thomas Riddle and Andy DeWitt, and, for the junior high club, Courtney Holt and Jordan Duff.
