MAGAZINE -- A few weeks after the new athletic conference realignments were released, there have been some major changes in the sport of volleyball.
To avoid "super conferences" -- conferences of 10 teams -- that occurred in the lower classifications (4A-2A) after reclassification, the Arkansas Activities Association has approved region tournaments for volleyball and split the larger conferences -- such as Magazine's conference -- into smaller 6-8 team conferences.
As a result, Magazine moves to the 2A-3 Conference, which also includes Hackett, Mulberry, Hector, Nemo Vista, South Side (Bee Branch), Quitman and Guy-Perkins.
The 2A-3 Conference will be aligned with the 2A-1 Conference (Ozark Catholic, Eureka Springs, Decatur, Life Way Christian, Founders Classical-Rogers and The New School) in region tournament play.
In the first conference alignment that was released earlier this year, Magazine was a member of the 2A-West Conference with Ozark Catholic, Mulberry, Hackett, Decatur, Life Way Christian, Founders Classical-Rogers and The New School.
